If your Heat Pump is equipped with a Kool Kap protective shield this message is for you.
While the Kool Kap does a great job of protecting your Heat Pump from leaves, pine needles, and other debris throughout the year, when we experience freezing rain, sleet, or snow there is a chance that your Kap can freeze to the top of the unit. To keep this from happening during times when we may experience freezing precipitation we recommend propping your Kool Kap open by using a broom handle or the like. This will ensure that your Kap will not stick in the closed position. Once the temperatures rise and the precipitation stops the stick or broom can be removed and the Kool Kap can return to normal operation. This is just a precaution to prevent a possible frozen unit.
